The Musette Tango in Monogram canvas, made in France in 1999: a neat flap bag on a buckled natural leather strap, worn short on the shoulder.

The Piece

The Musette family took its shape from the canvas bags French workers carried their lunch in. The Tango is the compact, flap-fronted version, cut to sit close under the arm.

Its strap buckles to length, so it can be worn high on the shoulder or let down a little. The natural cowhide has taken on an even honey tone with age.

• Good condition, with marks and rubbing, including at the corners.
• The natural leather has darkened with age and shows marks; the strap is marked and discoloured, with some looseness where it joins the bag.
• Rubbing and small losses of plating to the hardware.
