Louis Vuitton FW2023 Embroidered Monogram Jacquard Blazer, Hot Air Balloons and Voyagez Script, Charcoal, Size 46

A charcoal single-breasted blazer from Louis Vuitton's autumn-winter 2023 season, woven with a tonal Monogram and embroidered in white with sketched hot-air balloons, a traveller and the word Voyagez.

The Piece

Autumn-winter 2023 was the season between Virgil Abloh and Pharrell Williams, guest-designed by Colm Dillane of KidSuper, whose hand-drawn, storybook style brought sketches, scribbles and whimsy onto Louis Vuitton tailoring. Travel, the house's founding theme, runs through these pieces in drawn form.

This blazer is cut from a soft charcoal jacquard of wool and cotton with a barely-there Monogram woven through it. The front is embroidered in thread-sketch style with two hot-air balloons at the chest, a figure with a telescope down the sleeve and a looping hand-written Voyagez near the hip. It has notched lapels, two buttons, patch pockets, a lapel pin detail, working cuff buttons and a gunmetal chain hanger beneath the collar. Lined in cotton and cupro. Made in Italy.

Size 46 has a natural, softly constructed shoulder and a modern length. It works with matching trousers, with denim or over a hoodie, and the embroidery keeps it from ever feeling formal.
