Gianni Versace 1990s Medusa Medallion Bracelet, Wide Gold-Tone Links, Signed Clasp, 18 cm

A compact, densely linked Gianni Versace bracelet of Medusa medallions and ribbed bars, its clasp plate signed Gianni Versace Made in Italy, in bright gold tone and very good order.

The Piece

The coin bracelet was the entry point to the Gianni Versace world in the early 1990s: an emblem worn on the wrist, recognisable across a room. The house cast the Medusa head as if it were an ancient coin, edged it with a beaded rim and set it between short ribbed bars so the bracelet moves like a watch strap.

This example is the closely spaced version, with medallions set tightly enough that the bracelet presents an almost continuous band of gold around the wrist. It is about 2 cm wide and 18 cm long, which suits a smaller to medium wrist neatly. A smaller Medusa plaque sits beside the box clasp, and the underside of the clasp carries the raised signature Gianni Versace Made in Italy.

The plating remains bright, giving it the warm, high-polish look the house intended. It is equally convincing worn alone or stacked with a slim chain.
