This elegant yet commanding full-scale suit of samurai armor is a modern Japanese display gusoku (gendai yoroi), crafted to faithfully evoke classical armor aesthetics while remaining suitable for interior exhibition, ceremonial settings, and private collections.
The armor features a complete kabuto helmet with a restrained maedate crest, paired with a menpō-style facial mask that conveys dignity and martial composure rather than overt aggression. The cuirass, sode shoulder guards, kusazuri skirt plates, and kote arm protections are harmonized through layered lacquered plates and finely braided silk odoshi lacing in warm persimmon-orange and neutral tones, creating a balanced visual rhythm across the suit.
While visually inspired by Sengoku and Edo-period armor traditions, this piece is not intended for battlefield use. Instead, it represents the refined category of gendai-yoroi — modern armor produced for display purposes in castles, dojos, cultural spaces, and sophisticated interiors. Such works prioritize visual authenticity, structural completeness, and presence over combat practicality.
The condition is described as very clean, with no noticeable damage or staining. Minor signs of prior handling or display use may be present, consistent with its function as a decorative armor set. A helmet stand is included, allowing the kabuto to be displayed independently if desired.
Approximate dimensions (displayed):
• Height: approx. 171 cm
• Width: approx. 75 cm
• Depth: approx. 60 cm
Estimated shipping weight (safe packed): 32–38 kg (protective wrap + reinforced carton; crating can exceed this).
Collector relevance:
For collectors who want the commanding silhouette of yoroi without the fragility and compliance complexity of true antique armor, a modern display set can be the right answer—especially when the iconography is deliberate. The dragon-ken maedate reads immediately in photos, and it photographs exceptionally well in storefronts, galleries, and private interiors.
Collector’s Resonance:
This piece suits the collector who curates atmosphere: the one building a library room, a tea-and-arts space, a dojo aesthetic corner, or a modern “cabinet of arms” where the object’s presence is the priority. If you respond to protective symbolism—discipline over chaos, fire over fear—the Kurikara language will feel unmistakably intentional.
Confidence & Verification Notes (provenance / age / materials):
• Age: presented here as modern (contemporary / recent)
• Materials: assumed mixed construction typical of display yoroi (metal fittings, lacquered surfaces, textile lacing; wood/leather components possible).
Modern Armor Disclosure Clause
Disclosure: This listing is presented as a modern display yoroi armor made in the style of Japanese gusoku. It is not represented as battlefield-used period armor, nor as a documented antique, unless separate written provenance is provided and verified. Materials may include modern components and finishes. Condition is assessed visually from photographs; buyers should review images carefully and request confirmation of inclusions, maker marks, and any paperwork before purchase.
