COTÉ MER Reconstructed Purple Denim Jacket
Graphic Textile Collage, Studded Front & Exposed Zipper Back
A singular piece of Japanese reconstructed streetwear, this Cote Mer jacket transforms a classic denim trucker silhouette into a dark-purple wearable collage of denim, graphic textile, metal hardware, and architectural zipper work.
The front remains deceptively restrained: richly washed violet denim, traditional trucker pockets, bronze-tone buttons, and two symmetrical starburst arrangements made from silver-tone studs and faceted stones. Turn the jacket around and the entire visual language changes.
A large multicolored graphic panel occupies the center back, pieced together from fragments of printed fabric in black, silver, blue, red, yellow, and muted gold. Four long exposed zipper tracks frame the panel vertically, their oversized black tapes and extended pulls creating an industrial, deconstructed finish.
It feels equal parts punk stagewear, Japanese remake culture, graphic design, and experimental denim sculpture.
THE PURPLE DENIM FOUNDATION
The jacket is constructed from substantial cotton denim dyed or overdyed in a deep aubergine-purple tone.
Natural tonal variation appears throughout the surface, especially along seams, folds, shoulders, cuffs, and raised areas. Rather than appearing flat or synthetic, the purple shifts between ink, plum, indigo, and violet depending on the light.
Classic trucker-jacket details remain visible:
- Point collar
- Button front
- Two flap chest pockets
- Vertical lower hand pockets
- Buttoned cuffs
- Adjustable button tabs at the hem
- Contrast topstitching
- Structured shoulder and yoke construction
A small red tab and branded-style metal hardware remain visible on the underlying jacket, suggesting that a Levi’s trucker jacket was used as the foundation for the reconstruction.
GRAPHIC COLLAGE BACK
The centerpiece is a rectangular textile artwork assembled from numerous printed fragments.
Silver and gray figures, angular black forms, blue radiating lines, red lettering, yellow typography, and abstracted photographic details overlap across individually joined sections. Portions of the original text remain deliberately fragmented, including visible elements such as “TOUR” and partial oversized letters.
The composition reads less like a conventional printed patch and more like a cut-and-reassembled concert poster.
Its interrupted imagery is central to the design. Faces, lettering, and symbols appear, disappear, and collide across the seams, giving the panel a restless photocopied-zine energy.
EXPOSED ZIPPER ARCHITECTURE
Two long zipper assemblies run down each side of the back panel, producing four visible pulls near the lower hem.
The bright silver teeth contrast sharply against wide black zipper tape and purple denim. Extended tape ends hang freely below the jacket, giving the back an intentionally unfinished, industrial silhouette.
These zipper elements function visually as a frame, turning the textile collage into something resembling a removable stage panel, flight-case insert, or framed piece of graphic art.
The hardware adds movement when worn and gives the jacket a remarkable profile from behind.
STUDDED FRONT
The front shoulders are embellished with two hand-arranged geometric starbursts.
Each motif combines:
- Round silver-tone studs
- Square pyramid-style studs
- Faceted clear stones
- Radiating spoke-like placement
- Slightly different left and right compositions
The asymmetry is subtle. One motif feels denser and honeycomb-like, while the other expands outward as a sharper celestial star.
These embellishments introduce a glam-rock note without overwhelming the otherwise minimal front.
INTERIOR
Inside, the jacket is finished with a soft striped textile lining in gray, charcoal-purple, and muted rust.
The lining gives the piece more weight and warmth than an unlined denim trucker. Small stitch points visible near the upper interior correspond with the applied shoulder embellishments and reflect the garment’s reconstructed, hand-finished character.
A woven Cote Mer label is attached beneath the collar.
COTÉ MER
Cote Mer is a Japanese reconstruction label built around the idea of giving existing garments and materials a second life through cutting, rebuilding, textile combination, and unconventional detailing.
The brand describes its concept as “the aesthetics of the back alley,” combining contemporary sensibility with reinterpreted materials and influences from the past. Its work centers on reconstruction, individual material selection, and garments that unite functionality with a deliberately unconventional visual identity.
Because reconstructed pieces depend on the specific source garment, textile fragments, dye behavior, and embellishment placement, each example develops its own visual identity.

CONDITION
Pre-owned condition with visible characteristics consistent with a reconstructed and previously worn denim garment.
The purple denim displays intentional tonal variation, fading, washing, seam highlights, and irregular coloration throughout. Light rubbing, handling marks, minor surface wear, and scattered small fibers are visible.
The upper back yoke shows a faint rectangular stitched or shadowed area above the graphic panel, likely related to the garment’s earlier construction or customization history.
The textile collage shows natural creasing and slight variation between the individually assembled sections. The printed surface retains strong silver, blue, red, and yellow coloration.
The zipper tapes, metal teeth, and pulls remain present. Their unusually long hanging ends are part of the design. The exposed zipper assemblies should be handled gently and regarded primarily as structural and decorative elements.
The cuffs and edges show mild wear, including a small area of fraying or abrasion near one cuff. The lining displays light wear and visible hand-finishing associated with the applied embellishments.
No conspicuous major tear or severe structural loss is visible in the supplied photographs. Please review every image carefully, as the photographs form an essential part of the condition description.

CARE AND SHIPPING
Professional cleaning by a specialist familiar with reconstructed garments is recommended.
Avoid bleach, prolonged soaking, aggressive machine agitation, tumble drying, and direct ironing over the back graphic, studs, zipper tape, or printed textile. Store on a broad hanger with the extended zipper pulls arranged freely rather than folded beneath the jacket.
The garment will be carefully folded with protective layers between the metal hardware and textile surfaces, secured against moisture, and packed for tracked international shipment from Japan.
This pre-owned reconstructed garment is offered in the condition shown. Please review the photographs, measurements, and shop policies before purchasing. Returns and exchanges are not accepted except where required by applicable marketplace policy or consumer law.
Thoughtful offers may be considered according to availability, construction complexity, and collector interest.
