Shoulder-grazing drama from the Maison Gripoix years: a ruby-red poured-glass cabochon on hammered gilt, trailing a chain of twisted gold-tone rope.

The Piece

The top is a hammered quatrefoil of gilt holding a rectangular cushion of red poured glass, the colour deep and translucent in light. From it hangs a chain of five twisted-rope links, the whole earring measuring about 110 mm.

The backs are textured gilt with the oval Chanel plaque and sprung clip fittings. Made in France; earrings only.
