Japonista is a curated destination for Japanese cultural objects and garments, selected for integrity, presence, and long-term collector value.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We offer international shipping with careful packing standards designed to protect delicate textiles and cultural objects.

What does museum-grade mean on your site?

Museum-grade refers to coherence and integrity: materials, technique, and condition align with a convincing internal logic and cultural presence.

How do you describe condition on vintage and antiques?

We describe condition with a collector’s lens, noting material aging, patina, and structural integrity so you can make confident decisions.

How should I care for Japanese vintage textiles and embroidery?

Avoid harsh light, humidity swings, and compression. Store with breathable protection and handle gently to preserve structure and surface.

How do I start collecting thoughtfully?

Begin with one category you truly connect with, learn its visual language, and expand slowly. Depth of understanding matters more than volume.

A gilt roller skate rolling on four faux pearls, its laces picked out in crystal, swinging from a CC stud. From Chanel’s Cruise 2024 show, unused and still in the box: the novelty earring of the season.

The Piece

The 2024 Cruise collection was shown in Los Angeles and borrowed from Venice Beach, where the roller skate became its emblem. The earring translates it into the house materials of gilt, pearl and crystal.

The skates hang about 42 mm from the lobe and move as the wearer does. Pierced, with post and butterfly backs, and never worn.

Authenticity & Care

The season stamp, the weight and finish of the metal, the plating, the stone setting and the clasp are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch. Every piece carries the Japonista authenticity guarantee. Store it flat in its box, away from perfume and moisture; crystals and faux pearls are cleaned with a soft dry cloth, never soaked.

Packed by hand in Japan and shipped insured and tracked by EMS or an equivalent express service. Import duties and taxes, where applicable, are payable on arrival. Every sale is final; please ask anything before you buy, and see our published policy.
