A round offering stand in deep vermilion lacquer, touched with restrained gold, of the type known as keisudai or rindai. Never used, it lifts an incense vessel or offering bowl into its own tier on the altar, lending order and quiet emphasis to a Buddhist setting.
The Piece
This Japanese ritual stand of the keisudai (rindai) type is executed in saturated vermilion lacquer and enlivened with restrained gold-accent detailing. Designed to elevate a ritual vessel or offering above the altar surface, it adds clarity and hierarchy to a refined Buddhist setting.
Keisudai are used to raise an implement, such as an incense burner or offering bowl, creating a tiered rhythm that mirrors the structured order of ceremonial space. Vermilion lacquer carries an auspicious visual presence and harmonizes especially well with gold-toned altar fittings.
