The Piece

Toys McCoy built this jacket on the U.S. Navy G-1 pattern family, of M-422A lineage: mouton-style brown fur collar, buttoned front pockets, knit waistband and cuffs, and a trim military waist. The leather is a deep seal-to-dark brown, consistent with the house's high-end naval builds, and the body holds a firm, disciplined silhouette.

The full back painting reads “Let’s Get ’Em” in arching combat lettering over Felix the Cat riding a Wildcat amid anti-aircraft bursts and a bomb motif, with “F4F Wild Cat” stenciled at the base like an aircraft board notation. The front answers with a Felix squadron-style chest patch and a pilot name strip, cleanly placed: one side identifies, the other tells the story.

The F4F Wildcat was one of the defining early-war U.S. Navy fighters, remembered for its ruggedness. Pairing it with Felix, the sly and indestructible trickster of American animation, follows the wartime logic of flight-jacket art, in which fear was translated into humor and danger into graphic wit.
