Turn this vintage sukajan inside out and its mood changes completely, from inky black with ivory sleeves to emerald green with golden-yellow. On each back a Japan eagle swoops through matsu pine, and on each chest a dragon and tiger appear with a cartoon-like humor rarely seen in the souvenir-jacket tradition.
The Piece
The black side pairs an inky black satin body with ivory sleeves and striped green, gold, cream and black ribbing. A large eagle descends through stylized pine branches beneath the embroidered word Japan, while the chest carries a spirited dragon and a roaring tiger among cloud-like ornamental forms.
Reversed, the jacket shows a vivid emerald-green body with golden-yellow sleeves and coordinating striped ribbing. The same Japan eagle-and-pine composition appears on the back in a brighter palette, with colorful dragon and tiger motifs on the chest. The contrast between traditional souvenir imagery and this exuberant color architecture gives the piece a distinctive retro-pop personality, rebellious, nostalgic and unexpectedly charming at once.
The eagle creates a commanding central image associated with strength, vision and freedom; pine, or matsu, carries associations of endurance and longevity through its evergreen character. The dragon and tiger form one of East Asian visual culture's most dynamic pairings, interpreted here with a playful, almost cartoon-like energy that softens their martial symbolism without losing the jacket's streetwear attitude. Eagles, dragons and tigers all belong to the enduring repertoire that developed through the sukajan's Japanese-American cultural history.
The materials, color combinations, embroidery character and reversible construction appear consistent with a later twentieth-century Japanese souvenir jacket or vintage revival piece. Unattributed and undated, it relies on the embroidery, construction and eccentric palette as its strongest signatures; the embroidery has the softer character of age and wear rather than the mechanically pristine finish of a new reproduction. It can be worn as a bold streetwear layer, folded into an Amekaji wardrobe or displayed as a vibrant example of embroidered Japanese fashion culture.

Sizing Guidance
The proportions suggest a compact vintage Japanese L, potentially fitting closer to a contemporary unisex M or slim L depending on body shape, layering and preferred silhouette. Comparing these measurements with a well-fitting jacket is strongly recommended.
