The Piece

A wonderfully unusual reversible sukajan that joins the glossy silhouette of Japanese souvenir fashion to a playful French travel motif. The principal side is composed in blush pink and luminous champagne satin, embroidered with a white poodle, the Moulin Rouge windmill, Parisian architecture, street lamps and the word “France” across the upper back.

At the center of the back stands a fluffy white poodle with carefully outlined curls, pom-pom legs, a sculpted tail and a small red bow. Behind her rises a theatrical streetscape dominated by a bright red windmill and the embroidered words “Moulin Rouge,” with further architecture, blue-accented street lamps, cream façades and raised silver-gray “France” lettering, like a vintage travel postcard transformed into textile. The threads run through white, pale blue, scarlet, burgundy, navy, cream and metallic-looking neutrals on the soft pink ground.

A smaller poodle appears on the chest, with curled coat, rounded paws, pom-pom tail and a delicate pink bow, a restrained detail that keeps the front playful without competing with the back. Slanted welt pockets sit cleanly in the satin body. The pink side is finished with champagne ivory raglan sleeves, brown, beige and cream striped ribbing, pink-and-cream decorative piping and matching pink pocket trim.

The reverse offers a quieter, highly wearable alternative: a deep navy satin body with champagne ivory sleeves, navy welt pockets, red, white and navy striped ribbing, and a clean, unembroidered varsity-bomber presentation.
