From the 2023 Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collaboration, the Infinity Dots Vivienne turns the house mascot into a three-dimensional homage to the artist. The Piece

Vivienne is reimagined through Kusama's visual universe. Five oversized yellow petals form the head, covered with irregular black Infinity Dots, and the figure wears a vivid red bob that recalls the artist's unmistakable public image. Natural wood remains exposed in the circular face and the polished body, its grain deliberately left visible rather than hidden beneath paint, so the object reads as a decorative atelier piece rather than a mass-produced toy. Louis Vuitton officially identifies GI0892 as the LV x YK Infinity Dots Vivienne, crafted from wood, Epi grained cowhide leather, resin and metal.

Louis Vuitton, founded in Paris in 1854, built its reputation on trunks and travel pieces before its Monogram flower and LV initials became a framework for collaborations with artists who challenge the border between luxury design and contemporary art. Vivienne translates the Monogram Flower into a sculptural personality. The house and Kusama reunited in 2023 for an expansive second collaboration, following their first project together in 2012, extending across leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, trunks and objects with Infinity Dots, Painted Dots, pumpkins, flowers and reflective spheres. Here Vivienne does not merely wear a Kusama pattern; she effectively becomes Kusama, drawn into the artist's vocabulary of obsessive repetition, infinity and self-obliteration.

The dots are not rendered with mechanical uniformity. Large black discs sit beside smaller ones at irregular intervals across the yellow Epi-textured petals and body, continuing over separate surfaces and curves as though the pattern extends beyond the sculpture; on the petals they spread around the head like an expanding halo. The palette of yellow, black, red and natural wood, with small metallic and leather accents, is exceptionally bold: the red hair forms the central focal point and the warm wood softens the graphic contrast.

Vivienne carries a miniature Louis Vuitton Alma in a contrasting black-and-white dotted treatment, which Louis Vuitton's documentation identifies as a resin component. It acts as a sculpture within the sculpture: at full scale the figure is Louis Vuitton interpreting Kusama, and at miniature scale the Alma repeats that interpretation. A flower-shaped Monogram eye and leather arms complete the detailing, with the leather most visible across the petal structure and articulated elements, the wooden body lending weight and presence, and metal fittings finishing the mixed-material construction.

Best understood as decorative sculpture, its vertical form suits contemporary-art interiors, designer libraries, collector display cabinets, gallery-style shelving, luxury dressing rooms and Pop Art, Louis Vuitton or Kusama-focused collections. From across a room the yellow petals dominate; closer inspection reveals the dot work, natural wood, miniature Alma and fine construction. Because yellow and black are so closely tied to Kusama's pumpkins and Infinity Dots, this is among the clearest statements in the Vivienne series, an object that is playful on the surface and surprisingly sophisticated underneath.
