The brighter half of one of Louis Vuitton's defining early-2000s experiments, this Keepall 45 M92641 scatters Takashi Murakami's multicolored Monogram across a luminous white ground. Studded vachetta straps and trunk-inspired fittings make it one of the most elaborate Keepalls of the era, presented here with an excellent set of keys, clochette, name tag, poignet and dust bag.

The Piece

Against the white canvas, LV initials and Monogram flowers appear in pink, violet, blue, turquoise, green, yellow, orange and red. Because of the pale ground each symbol stays especially crisp and graphic, almost jewel-like, and the effect is brighter and more playful than the Noir version while the construction is the same.

Murakami left the familiar initials and floral motifs intact but freed them from the traditional brown-and-gold palette, multiplying them across an expansive spectrum. Monogram Multicolore became one of the most recognizable signatures of the Marc Jacobs era, and its balance of recognition and transformation made the collaboration culturally durable.

The M92641 is far more elaborate than a conventional Keepall. Vertical vachetta straps run across the body, punctuated by polished studs; decorative gold-tone fittings reference Vuitton's historic luggage; leather corners add structure; and double rolled handles rise above a double-zip top. Natural cowhide is used throughout the handles, straps, trim, corners, luggage tag and poignet, and has developed a warm honey-toned patina that becomes an important visual element against the white canvas.

Inside, a rich burgundy-toned textile lining contrasts with the bright exterior and frames a spacious central compartment, easily reached through the broad zipper opening.

Noir is darker, sharper and more dramatic; Blanc is luminous, playful, almost confectionary, with the warming vachetta gaining contrast over time. Whether used as travel luggage or shown as an archive display piece, it captures one of Louis Vuitton's most recognizable creative periods in a single object.
