One of the more atmospheric pieces of the Masters Collection, this 2017 Speedy 30 spreads J. M. W. Turner's Ancient Rome across coated canvas in gold, brown, blue and stone. Reflective Turner lettering, powder-blue leather and Jeff Koons's rabbit charm complete a limited-edition bag that feels like a nineteenth-century painting folded into a luxury object.

The Piece

Louis Vuitton collaborated with Jeff Koons on the Masters project in 2017, applying celebrated works of art to the house's most recognizable silhouettes. The Turner designs belonged to the second chapter, alongside works associated with Monet, Gauguin and Boucher, and contemporary coverage documented Turner among the featured artists and highlighted the rabbit motif and artist-biography details inside the bags.

This Speedy 30 uses imagery from Turner's Ancient Rome. Its warm architectural tones, atmospheric light and layered landscape wrap the bag edge to edge, giving each side a slightly different composition, and independent specialist references identify the model as the Turner Masters Speedy with the Ancient Rome motif. Large reflective metallic lettering spelling Turner crosses the front, while gold-tone LV and JK initials and floral Monogram motifs are layered over the painting, the deliberate clash at the heart of the collection.

Cool blue leather contrasts with the earthy painting across the rolled top handles, handle tabs, zipper pulls, trim and charm attachment, linking the exterior to the blue interior. Masters interiors carried artist-specific references, including biographical and portrait elements connected to the painter, and the Speedy provides a practical central compartment. The rabbit charm references Koons's own vocabulary, a recurring motif across the project that adds a playful sculptural note.

The palette of powder and sky blue, warm brown, bronze, ochre, stone, gold and muted green is more subdued than brighter Masters models, giving the Turner version an elegant painterly quality and unusual wearability with navy, cream, camel, chocolate brown, black, stone, denim, olive and minimal tailoring. Turner provides the painting, Koons the reflective typography and rabbit, Louis Vuitton the Speedy architecture: a reinterpretation of the painting as a luxury object.
