The Piece

Vivienne translates Louis Vuitton's historic Monogram Flower into a three-dimensional character. Rather than treating the flower purely as surface decoration, the house turns its rounded petals into the character's head and surrounding silhouette, and each edition becomes an opportunity to explore leather, textile, wood, metal, color, miniature accessories and seasonal artistic themes. The Rainbow Playground treatment, reference GI0879 from 2022, pushes that idea toward contemporary pop design, pairing traditional craftsmanship with exaggerated accessories and exuberant color.

Vivienne's familiar four-petal silhouette receives an unusually graphic treatment. The petals are finished predominantly in rich turquoise green leather, with subtle embossed Monogram patterning across portions of it, while sweeping sections of fluorescent yellow and vivid pink cut diagonally across the lower petals and torso, placed for energy rather than symmetry so that the figure seems to move while standing still. The face is exposed natural wood, its visible grain and tonal variation set against the saturated leather. The most striking detail is the oversized pair of angular pink sunglasses with dark lenses, a humorous couture-accessory touch that turns the Monogram Flower into something close to a miniature Louis Vuitton style icon and sets this version apart from more traditional editions.

Natural wood forms the head and lower body; leather is shaped over the petals, torso, arms and decorative elements; and silver-tone hardware adds small points of metallic contrast. The wood brings warmth and sculptural permanence, the leather color, texture and the vocabulary of the house's leather goods. Small leather arms extend from the wooden body with contrasting accents, and the rear view reveals more of the wood construction and the simplicity of the silhouette, so the object rewards viewing from several angles.

At approximately 20 cm tall it stands on its own as a display piece yet fits easily in a glass collector cabinet, beside Louis Vuitton trunks or small leather goods, within a contemporary art and fashion collection, on a design bookshelf or console, alongside other Vivienne editions, or as a colorful focal point in a minimalist interior.
