A matched pair of lotus-canopy yoraku, the hanging ornaments that complete the vertical frame of a Buddhist altar. Each falls about 27 cm from a lotus crown through five tiers and seven cutwork drops in gilt-finish aluminum, unused stock ready for a household altar or a restoration project.
The Piece
This matched pair of hanging ornaments is the kind of detail that quietly changes an altar from assembled to architecturally complete. Designed as temple-style hanging hardware, each piece reads like a miniature chandelier of devotion: a lotus canopy crown above cascading tiers of cutwork pendants that catch light and turn it into presence.
The silhouette follows the classic tier-and-drop configuration of five tiers and seven drops, scaled for larger household altars, annex rooms or restoration projects where proportion matters. The canopy diameter is compact and disciplined, while the total drop length gives the visual gravity collectors want without overwhelming the interior. The gilt finish reflects light intensely, so minor texture can read differently in photographs than in person.
Yoraku are not mere decoration; they function as ritual architecture. They articulate the vertical axis of the altar space, frame the central field and symbolically extend the sanctuary upward. For restorers and serious households correct proportion comes first, and the right hanging pieces make the interior feel ordered, intentional and complete. The pair suits a restoration-minded collector, a diaspora home upgrading to temple-standard fittings, an institution, or an estate-scale altar room where proportional hardware matters as much as the icon itself.
