The Piece

This pre-war tin walking character figure represents the early convergence of animation, licensing and mechanical toy manufacture. Produced in the 1930s, it translates a popular animated character, Popeye, into a three-dimensional kinetic form through lithographed tinplate construction and a wind-up walking mechanism.
