The Piece

The Sac Plat 24H M21679 comes from Louis Vuitton's 2023 collaboration with Yayoi Kusama, a collection that carried the artist's vocabulary across ready-to-wear, leather goods, accessories and luggage. Here the Sac Plat, a line defined by geometric simplicity, is enlarged into the 24H format: a structured rectangle of about 44 cm in width, built for substantial everyday or overnight carrying while keeping the presence of a collectible art object.

The body is white Taurillon Monogram cowhide, a leather with real grain and an embossed Monogram worked into the hide itself rather than printed over it. Across the front a radiating flower erupts in deep navy, cobalt blue, powder blue, white and black, built from dense fields of dots and cellular shapes that seem to move across the surface. The crisp white ground gives the motif maximum contrast, and the embossed Monogram stays visible between the printed elements as a second layer of texture.

Louis Vuitton specified the model in printed Taurillon Monogram leather with leather trim, cotton and polyester lining and silver-tone hardware; the cool metal gives the bag a more contemporary, almost technical edge than the house's traditional gold tone. Inside are a zippered pocket, a double flat pocket, an additional flat pocket, the LV × YK signature and a hook closure. Double top handles carry the bag by hand, longer internal handles allow a shoulder carry, and a luggage tag completes the travel reference.

The tension is the point. Louis Vuitton, a house founded on the discipline of travel, reduced the trunk to a functional leather rectangle; Kusama answered with a flower that refuses to stay within its borders.
