INTRODUCTION

A rare sculptural collectible from the Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama “Creating Infinity” collaboration, this Infinity Dots Vivienne GI0892 transforms Louis Vuitton’s house mascot into an extraordinary three-dimensional homage to Yayoi Kusama.

The familiar Vivienne figure is reimagined through Kusama’s instantly recognizable visual universe. Oversized yellow flower petals are covered with irregular black Infinity Dots, while the sculpted figure wears a vivid red bob recalling Kusama’s unmistakable public image. Natural wood remains exposed through the face and body, creating a striking contrast between artisanal material, Pop Art color and Louis Vuitton’s polished luxury detailing.

Even the smallest elements have been treated as part of the composition. Vivienne carries a miniature black-and-white dotted Louis Vuitton Alma, while the flower-shaped Monogram eye, leather arms and carefully constructed mixed-media surfaces turn what might otherwise have been a decorative mascot into a genuine collectible design object.

Louis Vuitton officially identifies GI0892 as the LV x YK Infinity Dots Vivienne, crafted from wood, Epi grained cowhide leather, resin and metal.

BRAND HERITAGE

Louis Vuitton was founded in Paris in 1854, developing its reputation through trunks and travel pieces engineered around durability, portability and meticulous hand craftsmanship.

Over time, the Maison’s visual language expanded far beyond luggage. The Monogram flower, LV initials and associated motifs became a framework through which Louis Vuitton could collaborate with artists whose work challenged the conventional border between luxury design and contemporary art.

The house has repeatedly used these collaborations not merely to decorate established products, but to reinterpret its own identity.

Vivienne occupies a particularly interesting place within that evolution.

Rather than functioning as a conventional fashion accessory, the character translates the Monogram Flower into a sculptural personality. In this Kusama edition, that already playful symbol is absorbed into one of the most recognizable artistic languages of the last century.

LOUIS VUITTON x YAYOI KUSAMA

Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama reunited in 2023 for an expansive second collaboration, following their first project together in 2012.

The later collaboration extended across leather goods, ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, trunks and objects, bringing together several recurring Kusama motifs including Infinity Dots, Painted Dots, pumpkins, flowers and reflective spheres.

The Infinity Dots Vivienne is among the collaboration’s most literal fusions of artist and Maison.

Vivienne does not merely wear a Kusama-inspired pattern.

She effectively becomes Kusama.

The flower-headed mascot adopts the artist’s vivid red hair, while yellow petals and black dots pull the sculpture directly into Kusama’s vocabulary of obsessive repetition, infinity and self-obliteration.

THE VIVIENNE FORM

The sculptural structure begins with Louis Vuitton’s flower-headed Vivienne mascot.

Five oversized petals form the head.

A natural-wood circular face occupies the center.

The figure’s body is similarly formed from polished wood, leaving the grain deliberately visible rather than hiding it beneath paint or coating.

That material decision matters.

The warm grain prevents the object from reading as a mass-produced toy. Instead, it retains the tactile character of a decorative atelier object.

The contrast between natural wood and graphic Infinity Dots gives the piece much of its visual power.

INFINITY DOTS

Kusama’s dots are not rendered with mechanical uniformity.

Different sizes appear across the yellow Epi-textured petals and body.

Large black discs sit beside smaller dots with irregular spacing, preventing the surface from becoming a simple commercial polka-dot print.

That uneven repetition is fundamental to the composition.

The eye is never allowed to settle on a conventional symmetrical pattern. Instead, dots continue across separate surfaces and curves, suggesting that the pattern extends beyond the physical limits of the sculpture.

The effect is particularly strong on the oversized flower petals, where black circles appear to spread around Vivienne’s head like an expanding halo.

COLOR COMPOSITION

The palette is exceptionally bold:

Yellow

Black

Red

Natural wood

Small metallic and leather accents

The yellow-and-black combination immediately evokes Kusama’s celebrated visual language, while the bright red sculptural hairstyle creates a powerful central focal point.

Natural wood softens the otherwise graphic palette.

The miniature black-and-white Alma introduces another dot system at a smaller scale, creating a delightful visual echo within the larger sculpture.

MINIATURE ALMA BAG

One of the most charming features of GI0892 is the miniature Louis Vuitton Alma carried by Vivienne.

Rather than being treated as a generic accessory, the Alma is finished in a contrasting black-and-white dotted treatment.

The tiny handbag functions almost like a sculpture within the sculpture.

At full scale the Vivienne represents Louis Vuitton interpreting Kusama.

At miniature scale the Alma repeats that interpretation again.

That layering gives the object considerably more visual depth than a conventional figurine.

Louis Vuitton’s official product documentation specifically identifies the miniature Alma as a resin component within the construction.

MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTION

Louis Vuitton documents the piece as constructed from:

Wood

Epi grained cowhide leather

Resin

Metal

The leather is particularly visible across the yellow petal structure and articulated elements.

The natural wooden body provides weight and sculptural presence.

Resin allows the miniature bag and smaller modeled elements to retain highly precise shapes.

Metal fittings complete the mixed-material construction.

The result is an object in which traditional leather-goods craftsmanship meets decorative sculpture.

APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS

Official Louis Vuitton dimensions:

Width: 17 cm / 6.7 in

Height: 20 cm / 7.9 in

Depth: 6 cm / 2.4 in

The current example has also been measured at approximately:

Maximum width: 6 cm

Maximum height: 21 cm

Maximum depth: 7 cm

Differences can result from the irregular three-dimensional construction and the particular points selected for measurement.

Louis Vuitton’s official reference for GI0892 is 17 × 20 × 6 cm.

CONDITION

Pre-owned.

Condition rank: B

The piece shows signs of previous ownership consistent with careful display and handling.

Noted observations include:

Minor scratches

Light surface rubbing

Small areas of discoloration

General age and handling traces

The overall sculptural form remains visually impressive.

Because this is a multi-material object combining wood, leather, resin and metal, small differences in surface aging may appear differently depending on lighting and viewing angle.

Collectors seeking a pristine unused example should review the available images carefully, while buyers comfortable with light age-related wear will find this a compelling opportunity to acquire one of the more unusual sculptural objects from the Kusama collaboration.

ACCESSORIES

No additional accessories are stated as included.

The sale should therefore be considered for the Vivienne art object itself unless otherwise shown or confirmed.

COLLECTIBILITY

This is where GI0892 becomes particularly interesting.

The original retail price was reported at US$5,450, while StockX identifies the model as GI0892 with a January 2023 release and records a latest historical transaction of approximately US$9,486. It also shows a reported twelve-month transaction level around US$8,161, although trading volume is extremely thin.

That lack of liquidity is actually part of the story.

GI0892 is not a mass-market Louis Vuitton accessory that appears continuously across resale platforms.

It occupies the narrower territory between luxury object, character collectible and contemporary-art collaboration.

For a serious Louis Vuitton or Kusama collector, scarcity matters more than conventional handbag turnover.

ART OBJECT POSITIONING

This piece is best understood not as a toy but as a decorative sculpture.

It works particularly well within:

Contemporary-art interiors

Designer libraries

Luxury dressing rooms

Collector display cabinets

Gallery-style shelving

Modern offices

Fashion archives

Pop Art collections

Louis Vuitton memorabilia collections

Kusama-focused collections

Its vertical form allows the piece to function as an architectural accent rather than merely another branded object placed on a shelf.

From across a room, the yellow petals dominate.

Closer inspection reveals the dot work, natural wood, miniature Alma and tiny construction details.

WHY THIS VERSION MATTERS

The yellow-and-black GI0892 variation is arguably one of the clearest visual statements within the Vivienne series.

Yellow and black are deeply associated with Kusama’s celebrated pumpkin and Infinity Dot imagery.

Here that palette is merged with the Louis Vuitton Monogram Flower itself.

The result is almost recursive:

Kusama becomes Vivienne.

Vivienne becomes a flower.

The flower carries Infinity Dots.

The figure carries a Louis Vuitton bag.

That bag carries another Infinity Dot pattern.

It is playful on the surface and surprisingly sophisticated underneath.

ON HERITAGE, ART & STRUCTURED PERMANENCE

Louis Vuitton’s earliest products were designed to move through the world.

Vivienne reverses that logic.

She is designed to remain.

A trunk crosses borders.

A sculpture occupies space.

Yet the same preoccupation with surface, material and recognizable identity remains.

Kusama adds another conceptual layer. Her dots historically work against boundaries, multiplying until the distinction between object, environment and viewer begins to dissolve.

Placed across Vivienne, those dots transform an already symbolic mascot into something closer to a miniature art environment.

The sculpture is still unmistakably Louis Vuitton.

Yet it has also been thoroughly absorbed into Kusama’s universe.

ATTRIBUTION, RARITY & CONDITION INTEGRITY

This work corresponds to Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama LV x YK Infinity Dots Vivienne, reference GI0892.

Official Louis Vuitton documentation confirms the yellow-and-black color treatment, 17 × 20 × 6 cm dimensions and mixed construction of wood, Epi leather, resin and metal.

Given the collectible nature of the object, preservation of original surfaces is especially important.

Minor scratches and light discoloration should therefore be documented rather than obscured.

Age is part of provenance.

Condition is part of value.

Transparency protects both.
