This Damier canvas trunk belongs to the age when the steamer trunk was the pinnacle of international mobility and Louis Vuitton defined what luxury travel looked like. Since 1854 the maison had joined coated canvas technology, carpentry and metalwork; Damier, introduced in 1888, was one of its earliest innovations and among the world's first anti-counterfeit luxury patterns, valued for its durability as much as its look.

The exterior is classic brown Damier coated canvas over a reinforced wooden structure, finished by hand and closed with a brass latch and lock plate. A wooden base with metal protectors and brass fittings throughout give it the unmistakable silhouette of early steamer luggage and the gravitas of pre-war Louis Vuitton craftsmanship: hand-applied canvas, reinforced wood and brass hardware.
