The Neverfull, re-made in grained black cowhide with an oversized Monogram embossed into the leather and lifted in cream-beige. Against the deep ground the pale initials read almost as architecture; this near-unused example retains its matching removable zipped pouch.

The Piece

Founded in Paris in 1854, Louis Vuitton built its reputation on trunks and luggage defined by durability, portability and carefully engineered construction, and its Monogram became one of the most recognizable visual systems in luxury design. Monogram Empreinte is among the more tactile expressions of that heritage: rather than being printed on a flat surface, the motif is pressed into supple grained leather, so light and shadow become part of the design. The Neverfull, for its part, has become one of the maison's defining modern totes, pairing considerable capacity with an intentionally uncomplicated open form.

This Bicolor version amplifies both scale and contrast. Large LV initials and Monogram flowers are distributed across the black leather instead of repeating as a dense miniature pattern, and their beige coloring creates a two-tone composition identifiable from across a room. Because the Monogram is embossed into the grain, the graphics form a physical relief that can be seen and felt; from a distance the bag reads almost as graphic abstraction, while closer inspection reveals the familiar initials and floral symbols in the leather.

Long leather handles let the bag sit comfortably on the shoulder, side laces draw the profile inward or relax for full volume, and gold-tone hardware adds warmth to the black-and-beige palette. The MM format offers substantial capacity within a large central compartment, short of the scale of the GM, and the construction stays light relative to its volume. The removable zipped pouch gives smaller valuables their own compartment and can be carried on its own.
