One of Louis Vuitton's most enduring travel silhouettes, recast in richly textured blue Monogram Denim for the Spring/Summer 2024 LV Remix collection. Oversized LV initials emerge through indigo, pale blue and white, while natural cowhide frames the Keepall and records its own patina with use.

The Piece

Created for the LV Remix collection, which revisited Monogram Denim through a contemporary reading of the House's earlier denim expressions, this Keepall Bandoulière 45 replaces coated Monogram canvas with woven denim. The enlarged LV initials, quatrefoils and Monogram flowers emerge through shifts of indigo, pale blue and white rather than conventional printing; some appear pale and sharply defined, others dissolve softly into the surrounding blue, recalling naturally worn denim without losing the recognizable vocabulary.

The Keepall 45 is one of Louis Vuitton's most balanced travel proportions: large enough for a compact weekender, considerably easier to carry than the 50, 55 and 60, its elongated soft body relaxing with use. This edition keeps the familiar architecture: rounded twin rolled leather handles, an elongated double-zip top, reinforced handle bands, natural leather piping, a detachable adjustable shoulder strap, a removable leather name tag, gold-tone hardware and a spacious single-volume interior.

Natural cowhide is not merely decorative here. Two broad vertical bands descend from the handles and anchor the body; further leather reinforces the sides, zipper ends and perimeter, tracing the engineering of the Keepall and its roots in Louis Vuitton luggage construction. Untreated cowhide also records time: light, handling and use gradually deepen it toward honey, amber and richer brown, while denim may soften, fade and vary in tone. On this example a still-vivid blue body already meets naturally matured trim.

Introduced in the early twentieth century, the Keepall moved Louis Vuitton from rigid trunks toward lightweight personal luggage, and its formula has endured: a broad opening, a flexible body, strong handles, reinforced stress points and minimal internal obstruction. The 45 suits overnight and weekend trips, short hotel stays, car travel, carry-on use where permitted, and the gym or leisure; cabin-baggage allowances vary by airline and aircraft. By the handles it keeps its traditional luggage character; on the shoulder strap it becomes more relaxed for longer movement.

Denim lowers the formality of Louis Vuitton luggage, so the bag works with white or cream tailoring, navy outerwear, washed denim, camel coats, natural linen, black minimal wardrobes, Japanese workwear, luxury streetwear and neutral knitwear, ideally as the one patterned object in the outfit. Bringing Monogram Denim to one of the House's most recognizable travel forms makes this version immediately distinguishable from the permanent Monogram-canvas Keepall family.
