Louis Vuitton Block LV M57277, Monogram Pastel Colors Three-Pouch Shoulder Bag, Virgil Abloh Era, Unused

Three pouches, three shapes, one strap: Virgil Abloh's Block LV turns everyday carry into a wearable system. A slim smartphone pouch, a round earbud case and a chunky LV-shaped utility pouch share a Monogram Pastel Colors canvas washed in aqua, pink, yellow, green and violet. This unused example is exceptionally clean.

The Piece

Rather than a repeating brown field, the Monogram here is partly dissolved into a loose pastel composition over a pale ground: aqua, teal, blue, pink, yellow, orange, green and lavender, with some motifs reading clearly and others fading into the color around them, as if watercolor, crayon and overprinted Monogram had been layered together. It belongs to the experimental language of the Virgil Abloh era, when house symbols were enlarged, softened, separated and translated through unexpected color.

Louis Vuitton conceived the M57277 as a three-pouch design, each pouch for a different category of small essential. The rectangular pouch takes a smartphone and cards; the medium pouch, cut to echo the architecture of the LV initials, holds keys, cards or other small items and gives the set its name; the small round pouch is sized for earbuds. They can be worn together or rearranged, and the light cream strap separates the pouches from the body so the pastel colors stay in focus.

Coated canvas with cowhide trim and textile lining makes the piece more practical than its delicate watercolor look suggests, and period specifications note multiple zipped compartments, card slots and internal flat storage depending on the pouch. Practical materials, playful forms, soft color and a graphic LV silhouette: that contrast gives the Block LV its character.
