EVISU Paris No. 1460 Pink Daicock Jeans, Big Seagull Appliqué with Kamon-Style Crests, 30 x 34 (Actual L28)

An enormous fuchsia Daicock sweeps across the seat of these EVISU Paris jeans and descends both legs, each end closing in a five-petal floral crest. Heavily faded dark indigo keeps the front restrained; the back is a vivid piece of Y2K Japanese streetwear history.

The Piece

This archive-era EVISU Paris pair is built around one of the brand's most theatrical treatments: an enormous pink Daicock, or Big Seagull, sweeping across the entire rear seat and down both legs. Unlike jeans with small pocket gulls, the whole reverse becomes one continuous composition. The saturated fuchsia appliqué curves around the rear pockets, crosses the central seat seam in a dramatic heart-like curve and divides into two long vertical strokes toward the knees, following the garment's anatomy rather than a pocket boundary. EVISU continues to use the term Daicock for these oversized interpretations of its seagull, distinguishing them from pocket-scale gulls.

The appliqué appears to be pink cotton twill or denim-like fabric stitched directly into the indigo ground. Having faded and developed tonal variation itself, it feels integrated rather than newly applied, moving between deep magenta, berry red and weathered fuchsia in different light. Each descending end closes in a circular emblem of pale five-petal blossoms within a contrasting border, recalling the structure of Japanese kamon, or family crests, without being assigned to any particular clan. Where the giant gull is bold and architectural, the crests add symmetry and refinement, and they stay visible around the rear knee and upper calf as the larger form moves across the seat.

The rear pockets are partly framed by the appliqué: their upper edges keep riveted construction while their lower shapes sit in the negative space of the gull, as though embedded in the graphic. A V-shaped yoke, golden and orange stitching, riveted corners and a tan EVISU Paris patch complete the back, with strong fading across the seat and upper thighs. The front is deliberately quieter, with rounded pockets, a coin pocket, branded copper-tone rivets and a multi-button fly outlined in tobacco, gold and orange; pronounced whiskering and irregular fading across the lap, hips and thighs give the heavily worn-in surface of vintage 2000s premium denim.

EVISU was founded in Osaka in 1991 and became internationally recognized for vintage-inspired construction and its hand-painted seagull; the brand's official history notes that early production was highly limited, with approximately fourteen pairs initially made per day. In the late 1990s and 2000s the gull outgrew the pocket, as oversized prints, appliqués, embroidery and Daicock compositions became part of an increasingly expressive international streetwear language. The Paris-branded patch, extreme rear graphic, vivid contrast and factory-style wash place this pair in that louder chapter, where Japanese denim heritage, European fashion branding, early-2000s premium denim, hip-hop culture and amekaji styling meet. Hung from the waistband, the rear reads almost like a vertical textile panel.

Condition

• Good vintage pre-owned condition with substantial visual character.
• Pronounced fading, whiskering, creasing and mottled tonal variation throughout, apparently combining an original washed finish with wear developed through use.
• The fuchsia appliqué is intact and visually powerful, with fading, softened color and expected surface wear; minor thread wear may be present around appliqué edges, seams, buttonholes and high-friction areas.
• The printed waistband patch shows age-related softening and fading; hardware keeps visible branding and patina.
• The pair appears to have been shortened or hem-adjusted at some point.
• No major holes, large tears or obvious structural failures are visible; minor irregularities, softened fibers, loose threads or marks not individually noted may be present, so please inspect every photograph.

Fit Guidance

The measured inseam of approximately 70 cm is substantially shorter than the tagged 34 inches, so treat the pair as approximately W30 with an actual L28 inseam rather than relying on the tag. The shorter length suits boots, high-top sneakers or cropped styling; compare the measurements with jeans that fit comfortably.

Authenticity & Care

Interior labels show size 30, 30 x 34 and 100% cotton; the waistband patch is printed EVISU Paris France with No. 1460 and Taille 30 x 34. No selvedge edge is visible, so the pair is not described as selvedge denim, and no manufacturing country is attributed. Every piece is examined and documented in Japan before dispatch and is offered with the Japonista authenticity guarantee.
