Italian Denim Collides With a Vintage Hawaiian Shirt 🌴

This is DSQUARED2 at its most wonderfully excessive.

A dark indigo trucker jacket has seemingly collided with a vivid vintage Hawaiian aloha shirt, leaving behind a spectacular hybrid of Italian luxury denim, tropical resort graphics, deliberate distressing, paint splatter and reconstructed fashion.

The body erupts in yellow, brown, ivory, emerald green, violet and crimson through a panoramic Hawaiian-style landscape populated by palm trees, hibiscus flowers, water, mountains, sailboats and tiny tropical figures. Around it, rugged indigo denim forms the collar, button placket, lower waistband and especially dramatic full-length sleeves.

The contrast is deliciously contradictory: rugged workwear below, tropical escapism above.

Better still, this example retains its original DSQUARED2 hangtags and is presented as an apparently unworn / new old stock example.

DSQUARED2
S71AM0909
S30342

Made in Italy

This is an especially useful combination for collectors because the garment can be identified substantially beyond a generic “DSQUARED2 Hawaiian jacket.”

The Dan Jean Jacket Reimagined

DSQUARED2's denim jackets are rarely interested in behaving politely.

This piece takes the familiar trucker-jacket vocabulary and tears up the rulebook.

Instead of constructing the entire body in denim, the design uses a vivid tropical printed textile across much of the torso while reserving denim for structural sections and sleeves.

The effect recalls several garments at once:

a vintage aloha shirt,
a denim trucker,
a reconstructed designer jacket,
a resort shirt,
and an experimental runway piece.

It is not merely a denim jacket with a printed patch.

The tropical textile becomes a fundamental part of the architecture.

Hawaiian Tropical Panorama

The printed body is the visual star.

Across the jacket runs an elaborate tropical landscape dominated by a rich golden-yellow ground.

Within it appear:

lush green palm trees,
purple and crimson hibiscus,
brown mountainous terrain,
coastlines and water,
small sailboats,
cloud formations,
and tiny human figures evocative of mid-century Hawaiian resort imagery.

The artwork feels deliberately nostalgic.

It recalls the exuberant scenic textiles of vintage Hawaiian shirts from the postwar resort-wear period, when the entire garment could function almost like a painted travel poster.

DSQUARED2 takes that language and drops it into modern distressed denim.

🌺🌴🌊

Aloha Shirt Meets Canadian Denim

This hybrid is particularly appropriate for DSQUARED2.

The label has long played with a collision between rugged North American casualwear and high-fashion Italian construction.

Here that dialogue becomes literal.

The denim trucker framework contributes:

structured collar,
button placket,
indigo sleeves,
contrast stitching,
metal hardware,
distressing,
paint effects,
and adjustable lower tabs.

The tropical textile contributes almost the opposite mood:

sun,
vacation,
flowers,
water,
palm trees,
and saturated color.

One half says workshop.

The other says Waikiki.

Together they become very DSQUARED2.

Denim Construction

The denim portions are rendered in a medium-to-dark indigo with intentionally worked surface effects.

Visible treatments include:

Paint Splatter

Small white, cream and yellow paint marks appear particularly around the central denim placket and sleeves.

Abrasion & Distressing

The denim incorporates intentionally worn and worked sections consistent with DSQUARED2's distressed aesthetic.

Contrast Stitching

Warm tobacco-colored stitching creates an additional workwear reference against the blue denim.

Metal Hardware

Branded silver-tone DSQUARED2 buttons complete the trucker-jacket foundation.

The attached original caution tag specifically identifies the garment's worn-out appearance as the product of special handmade treatments and processing, making these irregularities part of the intended design rather than conventional damage.

Dramatic Denim Sleeves

The long indigo sleeves substantially change the attitude of the piece.

Against the highly colorful printed torso, they operate almost like visual framing.

The sleeves feature deliberate fading, distressed finishing, paint traces and substantial seam construction, giving the jacket a rugged quality that keeps the tropical pattern from drifting into ordinary resort wear.

The result works particularly well from a distance.

You first see the brilliant Hawaiian body.

Then the eye catches the heavy denim structure surrounding it.

The Back: Almost a Wearable Vintage Travel Poster

Turn the garment around and the Hawaiian textile becomes even more expansive.

Without the interruption of the front closure, the back reveals a nearly uninterrupted tropical panorama.

Golden water stretches through the composition.

Clusters of palms rise from islands and coastlines.

Large hibiscus blossoms punctuate the landscape.

Small boats move through the water.

Tiny figures appear among the scenery.

The print invites closer inspection because it is not based on a single oversized logo. Instead it contains dozens of little narrative details.

It rewards the person standing behind you. ✨

SS18 Tropical Energy

The labels date this garment to the 2018 collection period, a particularly colorful chapter of DSQUARED2's menswear language.

Rather than merely reproducing a traditional aloha shirt, the piece filters that visual history through:

distressed denim,
reconstruction,
luxury streetwear,
Italian manufacture,
and exaggerated DSQUARED2 styling.

The finished garment therefore belongs comfortably beside both designer denim and collectible aloha fashion.

Original Tags Still Attached

One of the strongest features of this particular example is the surviving original tag set.

Visible tags include the black DSQUARED2 hangtag and factory / product identification tag showing:

Model: S71AM0909
Fabric: S30342
Color: 964
Size: 46
Production notation: 2018 01
Made in Italy

Original tags are particularly desirable on older designer garments because they preserve information that is frequently lost after ordinary retail use.

They also strengthen the garment's appeal as a collection piece rather than simply another used jacket.

Intentional Worn-Look Treatment

DSQUARED2 explicitly designed this jacket with surface irregularity.

The original attached warning tag explains that its worn-out character results from special handmade treatments and processing.

Accordingly, elements such as:

paint marks,
abrasion,
distressing,
uneven coloration,
worked threads,
and other deliberate irregularities

should be understood within the garment's intended aesthetic.

This is important because the jacket is not designed to look factory-pristine in the conventional sense.

Its luxury lies partly in looking as though it has already lived several lives.

Size

Tagged Italian Size: 46

This is an Italian men's designer size and should not automatically be interpreted as a US 46-inch chest.

As a broad fashion reference, IT 46 commonly falls around the smaller-to-medium end of men's international sizing, but DSQUARED2 cuts vary considerably by model.

For an accurate fit, please rely on actual garment measurements when available rather than size conversion alone.

The structured denim construction and intentionally fashion-forward cut should also be considered when comparing against ordinary American denim jackets.

Condition

Apparently New / Unworn With Original Tags Attached

The photographs show the original DSQUARED2 retail / identification tags still attached.

The garment presents exceptionally well.

Please remember that much of the visible:

distressing,
paint splatter,
abrasion,
surface variation,
and worn-look finishing

is intentional and integral to the original DSQUARED2 design.

Because this is an older designer garment that may have experienced storage and handling even if unworn, very minor age or storage characteristics can still be possible.

Please inspect all photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.

Made in Italy

The internal identification label clearly states:

MADE IN ITALY

That Italian production is an important part of this piece's identity.

The jacket sits at an interesting intersection:

Canadian-rooted DSQUARED2 design identity,
American workwear references,
Hawaiian resort graphics,
and Italian luxury garment manufacture.

Four fashion languages occupy one jacket without cancelling each other out.

Why This Jacket Stands Out

Many designer denim jackets compete primarily through distressing or branding.

This one does something far more memorable.

Its identity comes from construction and textile contrast.

The tropical scenic body is so dominant that the piece remains instantly recognizable even without oversized external branding.

That gives it considerable crossover appeal.

It can interest:

DSQUARED2 collectors,
designer denim enthusiasts,
vintage aloha collectors,
luxury streetwear buyers,
archive fashion enthusiasts,
resort-print collectors,
and fans of reconstructed hybrid garments.

Wearable Art & Styling

There is enough going on here that the rest of the outfit can remain almost silent.

Excellent pairings include:

black denim,
dark indigo jeans,
white denim,
plain black trousers,
vintage washed jeans,
engineer boots,
white sneakers,
Chelsea boots,
or minimal leather footwear.

A plain white or black shirt beneath it lets the tropical panel do everything.

For a louder look, pair it with distressed DSQUARED2 jeans and allow the whole outfit to become controlled chaos.

Collector Appeal

Several ingredients elevate this beyond an ordinary pre-owned designer denim jacket:

specific identifiable SS18-era model
Made in Italy manufacture
original hangtags retained
unusual denim / tropical textile hybrid
Hawaiian scenic artwork
distinctive S71AM0909 model code
IT 46 wearable collector size
deliberate hand-treated denim finishing
high visual recognition

Most importantly, it occupies a niche within DSQUARED2's catalog that is easy to remember.

If someone has seen this design once, they are unlikely to confuse it with fifty other jackets.

Purchase, Shipping & Vintage Policy

Please review all photographs carefully before purchasing, as they form an important part of the item's condition record.

Although this garment appears unused with its original tags attached, it is an older designer piece and may show extremely minor characteristics associated with storage, handling or age.

Much of the distressing, paint splatter, worn appearance, irregular coloration and surface treatment visible on the denim is intentionally created as part of the original design and should not be interpreted as conventional accidental damage.

Measurements should always be compared with a similar garment that fits you well. Tagged sizing should be treated as a reference rather than a guarantee of modern international fit.

Preparation, shipping and handling normally takes 5–10 business days or earlier.

Worldwide shipping is normally provided using EMS or another appropriate tracked international shipping service according to destination and logistical requirements.

Tracking information will be supplied following dispatch.

Reasonable and respectful offers may be considered.
