COTE MER Purple Tie-Dye Levi's Trucker Remake, Antique Obi and Kimono Silk Brocade Back, Size L–XL

White Levi's denim hand tie-dyed in lavender, violet, plum and soft ivory, then rebuilt by COTE MER around a rear panel of antique obi and kimono silk brocade. Framed by two exposed zippers and signed with embroidered lettering, it reads as much as a wall piece as a jacket.

The Piece

An authentic Levi's trucker jacket, originally white denim, has been hand tie-dyed in watercolor-like washes of lavender, violet, plum and soft ivory. The resulting ethereal canvas contrasts with the brilliant gold of the antique obi panel set into the back.

The rear reconstruction is composed of individually selected fragments of formal Japanese textile, antique ceremonial kimono and obi silk woven with traditional nishiki brocade techniques, arranged as an architectural mosaic. Metallic gold threads shimmer beside vermilion, emerald green, ivory, black and orange silk, while two full-length exposed industrial zippers frame the artwork like a gallery installation. Above it, the back yoke carries embroidered "BROIL CHY GIRL" lettering.

This is a complete artisan reconstruction rather than an appliqué jacket: a genuine Levi's denim foundation, structural panel reconstruction and hand-finished assembly, each fragment positioned to preserve the integrity of the original woven patterns within a contemporary composition. Obi fabrics are among the most technically demanding of Japanese textiles, prized for intricate weaving and durability.
