From the front, a restrained purple trucker with two studded starbursts; from behind, a full-scale graphic collage framed by four exposed zipper tracks. This COTE MER reconstruction joins punk stagewear, Japanese remake culture and experimental denim in a single, unrepeatable jacket.
The Piece
COTE MER transforms a classic denim trucker into a dark-purple wearable collage of denim, graphic textile, metal hardware and architectural zipper work. The substantial cotton denim is dyed or overdyed in a deep aubergine, its tone shifting between ink, plum, indigo and violet along seams, folds, shoulders and cuffs. Trucker details remain: point collar, button front, two flap chest pockets, vertical lower hand pockets, buttoned cuffs, adjustable hem tabs, contrast topstitching and a structured yoke. A small red tab and branded-style metal hardware suggest a Levi's trucker as the foundation.
The center back carries a rectangular textile artwork pieced from printed fragments in black, silver, blue, red, yellow and muted gold: silver and gray figures, angular forms, radiating blue lines, red lettering and yellow type, with fragments such as "TOUR" and partial oversized letters. It reads like a cut-and-reassembled concert poster, faces and symbols colliding across the seams with a restless, photocopied-zine energy.
Two long zipper assemblies run down each side of the panel, producing four visible pulls near the hem. Bright silver teeth on wide black tape frame the collage like a removable stage panel or framed graphic, and the extended tape ends hang freely below the jacket for an intentionally unfinished, industrial profile.
At the front shoulders, two hand-arranged starbursts of round silver-tone studs, square pyramid studs and faceted clear stones radiate outward, one denser and honeycomb-like, the other a sharper celestial star, a glam-rock note on an otherwise minimal front. Inside, a soft striped lining in gray, charcoal-purple and muted rust adds weight and warmth, and a woven COTE MER label sits beneath the collar.
COTE MER is a Japanese reconstruction label that gives existing garments a second life through cutting, rebuilding and unconventional detailing; it describes its concept as "the aesthetics of the back alley", uniting contemporary sensibility with reinterpreted materials. Wear the jacket over black trousers and a plain tee to let the purple lead, or with layered graphics, distressed denim, boots and metal accessories for a maximalist look.

Condition
- Pre-owned condition, with visible characteristics consistent with a reconstructed, previously worn denim garment.
- Intentional tonal variation, fading, washing, seam highlights and irregular coloration; light rubbing, handling marks, minor surface wear and scattered small fibers.
- A faint rectangular stitched or shadowed area on the upper back yoke above the graphic panel, likely from earlier construction or customization.
- The collage shows natural creasing and slight variation between sections; its silver, blue, red and yellow remain strong.
- Zipper tapes, teeth and pulls are present; the long hanging ends are part of the design, and the assemblies should be handled gently as structural and decorative elements.
- Mild wear at cuffs and edges, including a small area of fraying or abrasion near one cuff; light wear and visible hand-finishing in the lining, with small stitch points from the shoulder embellishments.
- No conspicuous major tear or severe structural loss is visible in the photographs.
Garment Keeping
The jacket will be folded with protective layers between the metal hardware and textile surfaces and secured against moisture for its journey.
- Professional cleaning by a specialist familiar with reconstructed garments is recommended
- Avoid bleach, prolonged soaking, aggressive machine agitation, tumble drying and direct ironing over the graphic, studs, zipper tape or printed textile
- Store on a broad hanger with the extended zipper pulls hanging freely rather than folded beneath the jacket
