A deadstock denim jacket, bleached to a unique hand-worked texture and backed with kimono cloth, the fabric that has come to symbolize Japan. The kimono is nishiki-ori brocade from Kyoto, and the finished jacket is made by hand, one by one, in COTE MER's own workshop.

The Piece

COTE MER started from a deadstock denim jacket, bleaching it by hand to create a distinctive texture before setting kimono fabric across the back and onto the sleeves. The kimono is Kyoto nishiki-ori (錦織), the patterned silk brocade associated with the city's weaving tradition, and the atelier counts the result among its best-looking kimono pieces.

The jacket is a versatile piece that can be worn toward street or toward mode. Because each one is handmade in the house's own factory, it is the only denim jacket of its kind in the world, ideal for anyone who would rather not overlap with others.
