A seated Shakyamuni Buddha rendered in vivid cloisonné enamel over copper — a jewel-toned devotional figure whose floral robe reads like a textile made of light. The face and chest are finished in warm gilt tones, while the body is wrapped in multicolored blossoms associated with Chinese cloisonné (“Jingtai-lan”) traditions and later Qing-style revival aesthetics.
This is a cross-disciplinary object: part sacred image, part decorative arts masterpiece. Under natural light the enamel behaves differently than paint — it has depth, a glassy glow, and subtle shifts where wire partitions and enamel pools catch shadow.
Origin positioning: presented as Chinese-origin / Chinese-style cloisonné work, offered from Japan. Dynasty or exact dating should be treated as seller-stated unless documentation is supplied.
Who is Shakyamuni Buddha?
Shakyamuni is the historical Buddha — the awakened teacher whose life and teachings form the foundation of Buddhism. In art he is often shown seated in calm authority, hands forming gestures of reassurance, teaching, or meditation.
