Rare Japanese Reversible Souvenir Jacket with Gyōja Busho Warrior, Oni and Tattoo-Art Embroidery

A richly detailed reversible sukajan by Bakuretsu Ranman Musume, also known as BRM, combining traditional Japanese and Chinese heroic imagery with the rebellious energy of rockabilly, biker and tattoo culture.

The principal bronze-and-black side presents an exceptionally dense embroidered composition inspired by Suikoden, the Japanese tradition surrounding the heroic outlaws of the Chinese classic Water Margin. At its center is the muscular warrior Wu Song, known in Japanese imagery as Gyōja Busho, surrounded by weapons, supernatural faces, flames and sweeping textile patterns.

Turn the jacket inside out and it becomes a black diamond-quilted bomber embroidered with bold cream typography, the kanji 豪, and the BRM philosophy of blending Western and Japanese styles.

This is not a Kintarō composition. Its imagery belongs to the dramatic world of Suikoden warrior art, presented through BRM’s unmistakable tattoo-inspired visual language.

A Jacket with Two Personalities

One side is an explosive embroidered tableau filled with warriors, weapons and supernatural intensity.

The other is darker and more restrained, with black quilted satin, oversized lettering and an understated vintage racing-jacket character.

The central warrior appears to represent Wu Song, called Gyōja Busho in Japanese Suikoden art.

Wu Song is one of the legendary heroes of Water Margin, a classic tale of 108 heroic outlaws. He is celebrated for extraordinary strength, courage and his famous encounter with a tiger.

Japanese artists adopted the Suikoden heroes enthusiastically during the Edo period. Their muscular bodies, dramatic battles and elaborate tattoos became ideal subjects for ukiyo-e printmakers and later influenced Japanese tattoo culture.

BRM transforms that visual tradition into wearable streetwear, retaining the warrior’s physical power while surrounding him with the graphic density of a full-back tattoo composition.
