Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme Leather Double Rider Jacket with Red Quilted Lining, Black Cowhide, Size 4

A classic double rider in black cowhide, lined in quilted scarlet, with a signature leather badge on the sleeve pocket: the Pour Homme take on the most enduring jacket in menswear.

The Piece

Yohji Yamamoto has returned to the motorcycle jacket many times, always keeping the archetype intact and adjusting only what matters: the weight of the leather, the set of the shoulder, the colour inside. This version is about contrast, black outside and a vivid red quilt within.

It is cut from substantial cowhide that has softened and creased with wear, in the classic asymmetric double-rider pattern: wide notch lapels with snaps, an offset zip front, zipped chest and hand pockets, a buckled half belt at the waist, zipped cuffs and side adjusters with metal buckles. A zipped pocket on the left sleeve carries an oval leather patch embossed with the signature. The lining is diamond-quilted red polyester with polyester padding.

The Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme signature label is inside, size 4, made in Japan, with product code HW-Y20-710; the season has not been confirmed.

It wears true to a classic rider: close through the body and short at the waist, with a good length of sleeve. The cowhide already has the soft creasing that new leather takes years to earn, so it moves easily from the first wear. Over a black knit or a white shirt with tailored trousers it shows how naturally a rider jacket can sit within a Yamamoto wardrobe.
