The Piece
Church's Shannon, a plain-toe Derby in high-shine polished binder calf, has been a Northampton classic for decades. When Vetements collaborated with the house in 2016 and 2017, it lifted the Shannon into a boot and fitted it with western spurs, a characteristically sly move that put an English gentleman's shoe into a cowboy's world.
This pair is the Shannon Boot V. The upper is glossy black binder calf with a full inside zip, the welt is stitched, and the leather soles carry Church's and Vetements stamps with Vibram rubber top pieces at heel and toe. The spurs are polished metal, bolted around each heel counter. The insole is printed VETEMENTS, and the box label reads Shannon Boot V, black, polishbinder, Made in England.
Size 7, with an outsole of 30.5 cm, roughly a UK 7 or EU 41.
Vetements' collaborations with heritage makers were a major part of the label's story, and the Church's boots are among the most accomplished, made in Northampton to the house's usual standards. Nearly unworn and boxed, this pair is a collector's example.
