Versace Medusa Sunburst Medallion Pendant on Curb Chain, Gold Tone, 70 cm, Made in Italy

A large contemporary Versace medallion in which a sculpted Medusa rises from layered, finely ribbed sunburst discs, hung on a long gold-tone curb chain and stamped Versace Made in Italy.

The Piece

Contemporary Versace jewellery treats the Medusa as sculpture. Rather than flattening her onto a coin, the house now casts the head in deep relief and frames it with architectural forms, giving the emblem a weight and depth that reads clearly even at a distance.

This pendant is built in layers: a broad outer disc with radiating ribs, a stepped inner ring, and at the centre a three-dimensional Medusa head. It measures about 4.9 by 6.4 cm including the bail. The reverse is smooth with the Versace name and Made in Italy stamped beneath a small panel. It hangs from a substantial curb chain of about 70 cm with a lobster clasp, also stamped.

At 70 cm the medallion sits at the sternum, over a T-shirt or open shirt, which is how the house styles it on the runway. It is unisex and works equally well alone or layered with a shorter chain.
