Jun Takahashi's licensed Pink Floyd collaboration from spring-summer 2023: sweatpants printed edge to edge with the Battersea Power Station cover of Animals.
The Piece
Jun Takahashi has built Undercover around music, and Pink Floyd has long been among his touchstones. For spring-summer 2023 he produced an officially licensed series with the band, and these sweatpants carry the most famous image of all: Storm Thorgerson's 1977 photograph of Battersea Power Station for the album Animals, inflatable pig and all.
The print runs continuously over both legs, from the dusky sky at the waist to the London rail yards at the cuffs, so the four chimneys rise up the front and back. The trousers are cut in a heavy cotton loopback with a drawcord waist, side pockets, a back zip pocket and elasticated cuffs.
Labelled Undercover, made in Japan, model UC1C4507, size 4, with the licensing line 2023 Pink Floyd (1987) Ltd on the care label.
A loose, easy fit with a tapered leg; it is a piece of wearable rock memorabilia and a reliable everyday trouser at once.
