From the 2019 Underoffwhitecovers capsule by Jun Takahashi and Virgil Abloh: faded black jeans printed with a grasping hand, a peace sign and a skeleton, sold with a waist bag in the same denim.
The Piece
In September 2019 Undercover and Off-White released a short capsule under the joint name Underoffwhitecovers, combining Jun Takahashi's punk and horror imagery with Virgil Abloh's quotation-mark branding. Graphic T-shirts, reversible hoodies, sweat shorts, faded black denim and a matching denim waist bag made up the range, which sold through quickly in Tokyo and online.
These are the jeans, a five-pocket tapered fit in washed black denim with a zip fly. A grey, clawing hand reaches over a red peace symbol on the front thigh, a skeleton figure is printed on the lower leg, and the back carries the Undercover U and Off-White branding with diagonal stripes on the pocket. The waist bag has three openings, a D-ring and snap adjustment, and can be worn at the waist or across the body. Made in Italy.
Tagged 32 inches, a valuable size since the cut runs large. Worn only to try on, with paper tags still attached to the jeans.
