Wide black leather trousers made with Isamu Katayama Backlash, the Japanese leather specialist, for autumn-winter 2024, in excellent pre-owned condition.
The Piece
Isamu Katayama's Backlash is revered in Japan for its garment-dyed and hand-worked leathers, and its collaborations are rare. For autumn-winter 2024 Mihara Yasuhiro brought Backlash in to produce a run of leather pieces, pairing Katayama's mastery of hide with Mihara's sense of proportion. These smooth leather trousers were among the most expensive items of the season.
They are cut from cowhide with a deep, glossy surface that creases into soft highlights. The cut is a high-rise, wide straight leg with a button fly, a utility pocket on the right thigh with a woven tab, back pockets with the MMY Backlash label and a 24-25 season tab at the waist. Inside, a navy cotton and rayon lining makes them comfortable against the skin, and the waistband carries elastic and a drawcord so the fit can be adjusted. The co-branded patch reads Maison Mihara Yasuhiro and Isamu Katayama Backlash.
Size 38 measures about 73 cm at the waist, adjustable, with a long 86.5 cm inseam. They pair naturally with chunky original-sole sneakers or engineer boots.
