A faded satin sukajan with embroidered eagles that turns inside out into a distressed black zip hoodie, two Japanese classics combined in one autumn-winter 2025 jacket.
The Piece
The souvenir jacket, or sukajan, was born in post-war Yokosuka and remains one of Japan's most recognisable garments. For autumn-winter 2025 Mihara Yasuhiro paired it with that other everyday uniform, the zip hoodie, and built a jacket that can be worn either way out.
On the satin side the body is sprayed from silver into black so it looks sun-faded, with ivory satin sleeves and striped rib trims. Eagles are embroidered in cream thread on each chest and across the back in a large flying eagle over waves and clouds. A grey hood rises from the collar so it appears layered. Reversed, the jacket becomes a black cotton zip hoodie with its own distressing, a small embroidered motif at the chest and the house patch at the hem.
Size 46 is the house large and the fit is relaxed, with a dropped shoulder and room for a sweatshirt beneath. The two faces give you a statement piece and a quiet one in a single jacket.
