Louis Vuitton Virgil Abloh Monogram Embossed Leather Utility Jacket, Black Calfskin, Size 48

A black calfskin utility jacket from Virgil Abloh's Louis Vuitton, embossed all over with the Monogram and loaded with pouch pockets that echo the house's leather goods.

The Piece

Virgil Abloh loved to blur the line between clothing and the trunk-maker's leather goods. His embossed Monogram calfskin, first seen on bags such as the Christopher and the Soft Trunk, migrated onto ready-to-wear in a small run of jackets that are now among the most sought-after pieces of his tenure.

This utility jacket is cut from supple black calfskin pressed throughout with a tone-on-tone Monogram. The front carries a pair of flat patch pockets at the chest, a zipped pouch and a small flapped pouch at the left, a large pouch at the right, and a two-way front zip; a single oversized patch pocket sits across the back. The collar is a sharp point collar, the hem and cuffs are banded in the same leather, and the body is lined in cotton and cupro. Made in Italy.

The fit is short and wide in the body with a dropped shoulder, so size 48 reads boxy and modern. Worn with black trousers it becomes almost architectural; the pockets are usable for keys, cards and a phone.
