The Cyclone, Lewis Leathers' definitive asymmetric rider, in black cowhide with the classic red quilted lining and Aviakit labels, size 38 and in very clean condition.
The Piece
Lewis Leathers of London has made motorcycle jackets since 1892, and the Cyclone, style No. 441, is the house's purest statement of the British rider: the jacket of the café racers and later of punk, worn by everyone from the Ramones to Japan's Harajuku rock scene.
This example is cut in black cowhide with an asymmetric front zip, snap-down lapels, a slanted chest pocket, two zip hand pockets, zip cuffs and a self belt at the hem. The embroidered Lewis Leathers wing badge sits on the chest, and the back is plain with buckled side adjusters.
Inside is the signature red quilted lining with Aviakit labels, made in England, and tagged size 38. The cowhide is supple and has settled into a soft sheen without losing its body.
The Cyclone fits close and short, as a riding jacket should. It sits on the hip, wears beautifully over a T-shirt or knit, and only improves as it moulds to its wearer.
