Recent Junya Watanabe and Levi’s straight jeans in a pale vintage wash, wrapped at both sides with printed paisley scarves that fall from the waistband with tasselled fringe.
The Piece
Watanabe’s partnership with Levi’s works because he treats the classic five-pocket jean as a fixed point and changes only what surrounds it. In this Spring/Summer 2026 design, attributed from its 2025 production code, the jeans themselves are a clean straight leg, and the drama comes from what is attached.
Printed polyester scarves in red, green and cream paisley are sewn along each outer seam, wrapping the hips and falling loose in long panels finished with navy and black fringe. The denim is a light, sun-faded wash with designed distressing at the knees and hems, Levi’s rivets, shank button and red tab, and a double-named Levi’s and Junya Watanabe label inside.
The fit is straight and relaxed with a mid rise. Size S measures 38 cm across the waist laid flat, so it suits a waist of around 76 cm; the cut works for men and women.
