6 clubs, 6 to 11: a left-handed BERES IS-03, two-star grade set on ARMRQ 8 shafts in stiff flex.
The Piece
BERES is the line Honma builds at the top of its range in Sakata, Yamagata, where the heads are forged and polished by hand and the ARMRQ carbon shafts are wound in the company’s own factory. The star grade on the shaft sets the tier: two stars for the standard ARMRQ shaft, three for a lighter, higher-grade shaft with more gold on the head, four and five for 24-karat gold plates and rings.
The IS-03 of 2014 is a forged cavity iron with a slot in the sole that lets the face flex, pairing a soft feel with easy height. This set runs 6 to 11, 6 clubs in all, left-handed, on ARMRQ 8 shafts in stiff flex.
