A Hermès Birkin 30 Ghillies in three exotic skins, matte Niloticus crocodile body with brogued ostrich trim and lizard handles in Tabac Camel and Sésame, from 2013.
The Piece
The Ghillies series took its name and its decoration from the brogue shoe: scalloped, perforated trim of the kind that edges a gentleman's Oxford, stitched onto Hermès bags from the early 2010s. On the Birkin the effect is that of a bespoke shoe translated into a bag, and the tri-exotic versions are among the most elaborate the house has made.
This 30 has a body of matte Niloticus crocodile in pale Sésame, framed with brogued ostrich in Tabac Camel on the flap, sangles and corners, and rolled handles in lizard. The two-dot mark beside the Hermès Paris Made in France stamp confirms the Niloticus. The hardware is champagne gold, including a cadena covered in matching crocodile.
Inside, the bag is lined in chèvre with a zip pocket and an open pocket. The Q stamp in a square dates it to 2013.
At about 30 by 24 cm with a 15.5 cm gusset, it is a practical everyday size, and its warm, layered colouring makes it unusually easy to wear for an exotic Birkin.

Condition
- Good pre-owned condition with visible wear.
- Scuffing and light discolouration at the base corners and the ostrich corner pieces.
- A small mark on the brogued ostrich trim at the lower front.
- Light rubbing to the hardware and a scuffed interior.
- Handles in good order; structure firm.

Leather, saddle stitching, edge finish and blind stamp are examined together and documented in Japan before dispatch. Every piece carries the Japonista authenticity guarantee.
