Gucci Embroidered Dragon Suede Bomber Jacket 474049, Tan Goatskin with Flora Print Lining, Size 54

A Gucci suede bomber, reference 474049, embroidered with two rising dragons on the front and soaring birds on the shoulders, lined in the house’s Flora print.

The Piece

Alessandro Michele’s first years at Gucci, from 2015, were defined by embroidery: snakes, tigers, bees and dragons stitched onto bombers in a deliberate echo of the Japanese sukajan souvenir jacket. This piece belongs to that moment, translating the souvenir jacket into soft tan suede.

The jacket is made in goatskin suede with a velvety nap. Two dragons in gold, cream and coral thread climb the front panels on either side of the zip, and two small birds in flight are embroidered across the back shoulders. Flapped patch pockets close with snaps, a stand collar sits above the zip, and the collar, cuffs and hem are a brown wool-blend rib. Inside, the body is lined in the Gucci Flora print of lilies and wild flowers, with pale blue sleeve linings; the label reads made in Italy.

It is a fitted, hip-length bomber with a 58 cm chest.

The embroidered bomber is one of the defining garments of Michele’s Gucci, and the suede versions, warmer and softer than the silk sukajan, were made in far smaller numbers. With a grey sweatshirt and black trousers it wears as an everyday leather jacket with a story stitched into it. Tagged 54, it fits a men’s large.
