The North Face Nuptse rebuilt by eYe Junya Watanabe MAN in glossy black synthetic leather instead of ripstop, a quiet, polished take on the most recognisable down jacket in the world.
The Piece
Junya Watanabe MAN has worked with The North Face for well over a decade, and the eYe line uses that relationship to rethink icons rather than decorate them. For this Nuptse the brief was a single change of material: the familiar baffled jacket is cut in a supple polyurethane synthetic leather with the sheen of real hide, lighter and easier to care for.
All the Nuptse details remain, from the stand collar with stowed hood channel and the horizontal baffles to the full-length zip, hand pockets and elasticated cuffs. The embroidered logo sits on the left chest and right shoulder blade in white, the only contrast on an otherwise all-black jacket. It is filled with 80% down and 20% feather and lined in nylon.
Product code WN-J911, made in Japan, with The North Face and eYe Junya Watanabe MAN labels at the neck. The fit is the classic boxy Nuptse shape; a tagged S suits a slim to regular build.
A dressier Nuptse that works as well with tailoring as with denim.

- Used with visible creasing and light surface wear to the coated shell, as is normal for synthetic leather.
- Down loft remains full.
- Zip and cuffs working; logos intact.
- No tears observed.
