Two classics spliced into one: a long beige trench coat joined at the chest to a Carhartt duck work jacket, with a quilted hood, rib-knit waistband and Carhartt patch, from eYe Junya Watanabe MAN autumn-winter 2022.
The Piece
The eYe line is where Junya Watanabe MAN builds new garments out of old archetypes, and the Carhartt partnership has produced some of its strongest hybrids. This coat combines the trench and the Detroit-style work jacket in one piece.
The upper body is in brown cotton duck with a corduroy-style collar, a zip front, a rib-knit waistband and cuffs in brown wool, and the square Carhartt patch at the chest. From there the garment continues into a full-length beige cotton trench with a two-row button front, storm flap, epaulettes, buttoned cuff straps and a long back vent. A detachable hood, lined in quilted cupro, buttons on at the collar.
Made in Japan, with the eYe Junya Watanabe MAN and Carhartt labels at the neck. Product code read on the care label as WJ-C901. The cut is long, ankle-grazing on most people, and easy through the body.
