discord Yohji Yamamoto is the label Yamamoto established for bags and small leather goods, and it treats leather with the same severity he brings to cloth: black first, construction exposed, ornament reduced to almost nothing. The line is produced in Japan and is still a quiet name outside the country, which is exactly why it appeals to collectors who want the house's thinking in an object they can carry every day.

The GETA handle bag, model DD-I15-710, is a current design from the line. Its name comes from the long rolled handles, which do not simply rise from the top edge but are stitched down the full height of the front and back panels, so the bag hangs from them the way a geta hangs from its thong. The deep flap is cut with two notched tabs that slot over leather keepers on the front, and a gunmetal padlock and key on a fine chain finish the closure. The discord signature is debossed tone on tone on the flap and the Yohji Yamamoto signature on the back.

Inside, the bag is lined in black cloth with a zipped wall pocket and further slip pockets, four interior pockets in all, and the woven discord label. At roughly 35 cm wide, 25 cm high and 15 cm deep, it takes a laptop sleeve, a notebook and the day's essentials while keeping a clean, architectural outline.

Condition

• Near-unused, with very little sign of handling.
• Faint light scuffs in places on the leather.
• A very slight fine crack to the edge paint at the base of the flap.
