The Piece
For autumn-winter 2026 Rei Kawakubo titled the Homme Plus collection Black Hole, and the clothes looked as though they had been pulled into one. Tailoring was cut open and gathered upon itself until familiar jackets became dense, collapsing forms.
This jacket is one of the defining pieces. It starts as an oversized single-breasted jacket with notched lapels, then the cloth is drawn up from the hem in clustered knots across the chest, back and sleeves, so the whole garment seems to fold inward. The fabric is a lustrous acetate and polyester with a soft, light hand, lined in cupro, and surprisingly warm.
Labelled Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, AD2026, made in Japan, model PR-J018, size M. The original price tag, hanger and garment bag are included.
Worn only three times. It is a collection piece in the fullest sense, best worn simply with black trousers so the form leads.
