The Piece
Comme des Garçons Comme des Garçons is the line where Rei Kawakubo distils the house's sensibility into wearable everyday pieces, and outerwear is one of its strengths. This hooded poncho, product code W13C903, shows the line at its most considered.
It is cut in a polyester and wool blend with a matte, slightly brushed hand, falling from a high, gathered funnel hood with drawcords. The body is a wide cape that drops into deep points at the sides, with curved seaming that shapes the drape over the shoulders.
Tagged XS, but the cape cut makes the size almost irrelevant; it suits a wide range of frames and layers easily over a jacket or knit. Labels and composition tags are present.
Worn with slim trousers and boots it reads as quietly dramatic, exactly the balance the line is known for.
