A Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme suit from Spring/Summer 1995: a black crinkled wool peak-lapel jacket and matching trousers, the jacket finished with turned-back cuffs and a pocket edge in white kogin-style stitching.

The Piece

The mid-1990s are among the most collected years of Pour Homme, when Yamamoto's tailoring was at its loosest and most poetic and Japanese craft began to surface in the details. This Spring/Summer 1995 suit carries that quiet signature: at first glance a plain black suit, it reveals at the cuffs and breast pocket a band of white stitching in the manner of kogin-zashi, the counted darning of northern Japan.

The jacket is cut with peak lapels, a two-button front, flap pockets and a soft, unstructured shoulder. The cloth is a lightweight crinkled wool blend with a fine vertical texture, ideal for spring, and the turned-back cuffs show the stitched panel when the sleeve is folded. The trousers are pleated, with a zip fly, a flapped back pocket and a straight leg.

Labels inside carry the Pour Homme signature and composition tags with product codes from the HB series. The fabric is wool with rayon and polyester, lined in cupro, and both pieces are made in Japan.

The jacket is tagged S and measures 48 cm across the shoulder, 55 cm across the chest and 73 cm long; the trousers are tagged M with a 42 cm flat waist and 71 cm inseam. It will suit a men's small to medium who likes a relaxed 1990s line.
