A vintage Japanese stadium jacket by VARORAV Per Nuova, made in the Amekaji tradition of reinterpreting American collegiate and athletic wear. A forest-green melton wool body, cream leather sleeves and a chenille bulldog in a hockey helmet give it an old-school sports-club character somewhere between a mid-century college jacket and Japanese character streetwear.

The Piece

Known in Japan as the stadium jumper, or sutajan, this style became an important part of Amekaji fashion, blending American sportswear with distinctive Japanese graphics, proportions and character design. Construction and branding suggest late-20th-century to early-2000s Japanese production.

The front carries an oversized chenille varsity letter B, a bulldog mascot wearing a hockey helmet, an appliquéd 59 number patch and a 1959 sleeve badge, with cream-trimmed hand pockets and a metal snap-button closure.

On the back, a large central bulldog stands over crossed hockey sticks, surrounded by red stars and collegiate lettering reading VARORAV PER NUOVA. Embroidery in red, orange, cream, brown and green plays lively against the dark green body, and small details such as helmet markings, hockey-stick labels, jersey numbers and mascot outlines give the artwork a hand-drawn vintage sports-emblem feel.

Dense melton-style wool, cream leather, chenille and striped rib knit give the jacket visual depth and real cold-weather structure, with a quilted satin-finish lining inside and the traditional Japanese stadium-jacket silhouette.
